Arrival in Tbilisi, welcome at the airport and transfer to hotel.
Tbilisi – Kazbegi – In the morning, we travel along the Georgian military road to the town of Kazbegi (1700 m). On the way, we will visit the Ananuri castle complex on the river Aragvi. Overnight in a guest house (B, -, D).
Gergeti – Betlemi Hut (3675 masl) After breakfast, we walk to the Gergetis Sameba church (2200 masl). From here, you’ll have a magnificent view of the Caucasus mountains. Later, we’ll continue to the Gergeti glacier (we’ll need crampons) which leads to the old weather station called Bethlemi Hut (3675 m). Overnight at the station or in tents (B, L, D). Acclimatisation day, We spend a day acclimatising and exploring the area (B, L, D).
The Bethlemi Hut – Peak Kazbek (5047masl) We begin our ascent of Mount Kazbek at 2:00 am. It will be necessary to use crampons and attach a rope on the last section to reach the summit. In fine weather, the summit offers spectacular views of the Caucasus range and Elbrus. We return to the station in the evening. The whole route takes 9-10 hours. Overnight in tents. (B, L, D).
Reserve day, descent to Kazbegi. If the weather is bad on day 4, we climb on day 5. Descent and rest in Kazbegi (B, L, D).
Mtskheta – Tbilisi En route to Tbilisi, we will visit the ancient capital and one of the oldest cities in Georgia, situated at the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. We will visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century, UNESCO) and Jvari Monastery (6th century, UNESCO). Walking tour of the old town of Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel (B, -, D).
Transfer to the airport.
